Study Encouragement Scholarships are awarded based on students’ academic performance and conduct, with the aim of motivating and supporting learners who demonstrate strong effort and outstanding results. Eligible recipients are full-time undergraduate students who achieve academic and conduct rankings of “Good” or higher.
Currently, the university allocates 8% of the tuition revenue from full-time programs to the Study Encouragement Scholarship Fund, equivalent to 8 billion VND per academic year.
In addition to the Study Encouragement Scholarship scheme, HUCE students also receive various scholarships funded by partners and organizations inside and outside the university, amounting to approximately 1.3 billion VND annually. Some notable scholarship programs include:
The Đỗ Quốc Sam Scholarship Fund was established by the Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering in honor of the late Professor Đỗ Quốc Sam. The fund’s financial resources include:

Donations from agencies, organizations, and individuals inside and outside the university
Revenue generated from fundraising activities and financial investments of the fund
Scholarships are awarded annually on the university’s Opening Ceremony Day to full-time undergraduate students who meet the eligibility criteria. The awards include:
01 Special Scholarship valued at 20,000,000 VND
Regular Scholarships valued at 5,000,000 VND each
The CSC Scholarship Fund is established, managed, and developed by COTANA Group. The Chairman of the Group also serves as the Chairman of the CSC Scholarship Fund.
The CSC Scholarship aims to encourage academic excellence and scientific research among HUCE students from the 2nd to 4th year who demonstrate outstanding achievements.
Awarded annually at the Opening Ceremony
Presented to one (01) most outstanding student of the year
Includes a commemorative medal and a monetary prize
The annual scholarship value is based on the fund’s growth but not less than 5,000 USD
With financial support from the Shirin Pandju Merali Foundation, The Asia Foundation and the Center for Education and Development jointly established the Merali Scholarship Program in Vietnam. The program supports female students with strong academic potential but limited financial means to continue their university studies.
The program specifically targets female students in technical–scientific fields, where women are often underrepresented, helping ensure equitable access to higher education.
In 2015, 40 female HUCE students from majors such as Architecture and Planning, Construction Economics and Management, Civil & Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Bridge and Road Engineering, and Construction Engineering Mechanics received Merali Scholarships.
Scholarship value: 13,000,000 VND per year
Awarded for all 5 years of study (subject to good academic performance)
Disbursed three times per year: beginning of the academic year, beginning of semester II, and end of the academic year
The Kumho Asiana Vietnam Scholarship & Cultural Fund, established on December 6, 2007, aims to support talent development and cultural advancement in Vietnam.
Each year, the Ministry of Education and Training and Kumho Asiana Group award approximately 100 scholarships to:
First-year students with the highest university entrance examination scores
Students from policy-beneficiary or disadvantaged families
Recipients are selected based on direct interviews.
Scholarship value: approx. 2,150,000 VND per semester per student
Awarded throughout 4–5 years of study (subject to academic performance)
In the 2015–2016 academic year, five HUCE students (cohort K60) received Kumho Asiana Scholarships.
