Robocon has become a familiar playground organized by Vietnam Television for students from universities, colleges, and vocational institutions across the country in technical fields. For contestants and millions of television viewers alike, Robocon has grown into a part of childhood memories, a symbol of dreams, and the aspirations of youth.
This year, the national qualifying round of Robocon Vietnam 2023 attracted 67 teams from 19 universities and colleges nationwide. Among them, 55 teams competed in the Northern qualifiers and 12 teams in the Southern qualifiers. However, only 32 outstanding teams earned tickets to the national finals. The national final round will be held in Nam Dinh in May 2023. The champion team will represent Vietnam at the international ABU Robocon 2023, scheduled for August 2023 in Cambodia.
The Robocon movement at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) dates back to 2002–2003, but was interrupted for various reasons. In 2019, thanks to the determination and passion of students from the Faculty of Construction Machinery (now the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), along with strong support from the University and lecturers, HUCE’s Robocon team was re-established and returned to competition. Though considered a newcomer at the time, the team impressively advanced to the national finals.
At Robocon 2023, HUCE fielded three teams: H1-AEC, H2-AEC, and H3-AEC, with core members from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology, under the Automation Club. The teams proactively studied the competition rules and technologies early on to design and build their most optimal robots. Passion was evident in every face and action—countless sleepless nights and dozens of trials were devoted to finding the best solutions. Their collective determination was perfectly captured in the self-chosen slogan: “Overcome all hardships – Break every challenge.”
