The Automotive Engineering specialization is delivered by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. This is one of the newest specializations at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, first admitting students in 2021.
The curriculum is developed using the CDIO approach (Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate) and is evaluated in accordance with ABET accreditation standards (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, USA).
The Automotive Engineering specialization equips students with foundational, interdisciplinary, and major-specific knowledge, including in-depth expertise in automotive engineering. Therefore, upon graduation, students will possess fundamental professional competencies that meet societal demands in: designing automotive components and systems, maintenance and repair systems, manufacturing processes, conducting experiments, as well as analyzing and evaluating data. Students will also develop technical skills relevant to automotive engineering and related fields, together with autonomy and social responsibility.
After graduation, students may pursue higher degrees such as Engineer, Master’s, PhD, or a second degree in other majors/specializations at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and other universities in Vietnam and abroad.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is committed to accompanying students throughout their study journey, cooperating with enterprises in student recruitment, and introducing job positions aligned with each student’s abilities, strengths, and passion.
Bachelor’s degree: 4 years
Engineer’s degree (equivalent to Master’s level): 5–5.5 years
Ability to identify and solve problems in mechanical engineering and automotive engineering, taking into account cultural, social, economic, and environmental factors through the application of mathematics, science, engineering principles, and systems thinking.
Ability to apply engineering design principles to develop solutions/products/systems that address technical problems while considering public safety and health, as well as economic, environmental, and cultural factors in business, social, and international contexts.
Strong communication skills in various forms (oral communication, individual presentations, group presentations, written communication, and graphical communication). Proficient use of English at work, achieving TOEIC 500+ or equivalent international certificates.
Ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in automotive engineering and make decisions that consider the impact of engineering solutions on economic, social, and environmental contexts under local and global conditions.
Ability to work effectively in teams where members collaborate, lead, and create a cooperative working environment to set goals, plan execution, and accomplish objectives in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
Ability to design and conduct experiments/tests, analyze and interpret meaningful data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
Scholarships from the University, Faculty, organizations, individuals, and the Do Quoc Sam Scholarship.
Opportunities for site visits and internships at automotive manufacturing and assembly enterprises, spare-part companies, repair garages, vehicle service centers, and vehicle inspection centers, etc.
Opportunities to participate in activities that enhance soft skills, such as volunteer programs, Robocon clubs, cultural events, and sports activities.
Opportunities to attend free foreign language courses (Japanese, Korean, etc.) at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and partner enterprises, enabling participation in high-quality labor markets as technical staff in Japan, South Korea, ASEAN, etc.
After graduation, Bachelor’s degree holders in Automotive Engineering may take on positions such as:
Technical specialists or design consultants in automotive manufacturing and production, auto parts, and auxiliary equipment at factories such as VinFast, THACO, Toyota, Hyundai, Ford, etc.
Technicians and technical supervisors in automotive maintenance and repair at garages, car dealerships, showrooms, and authorized service centers of automotive brands.
Service advisors and customer care managers.
Vehicle quality control specialists and managers at vehicle inspection centers.
Researchers and lecturers at training and research institutions; or pursue advanced studies at Engineer, Master’s, PhD levels, or articulation programs in other majors/specializations to become faculty members at educational institutions.
With internationally-oriented curricula, graduates can easily pursue postgraduate education anywhere, such as:
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
Other majors/specializations at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
Other technical universities in Vietnam.
Overseas (through recommendations from the Faculty/University or self-application).
