2. Overview of the specialization, training duration, and degree awarded

2.1. Specialization overview

The undergraduate program in Mechatronics Engineering is developed following the CDIO approach
(C – Conceive, D – Design, I – Implement, O – Operate) with the aim of equipping students with both fundamental and advanced knowledge in mechatronics engineering.

The program trains students to be capable of researching, managing, designing, operating, utilizing, and maintaining equipment and technological production lines, electrical equipment, electric drive systems, power transmission, distribution and supply systems, lighting systems, and related mechatronic systems in both industrial and civil applications.

2.2. Training duration and degree awarded

  • Bachelor’s degree: 4 years

  • Engineer’s degree (equivalent to Master’s level): 5–5.5 years

3. Knowledge and skills acquired after graduation

  • Apply mathematics, basic sciences, fundamental engineering principles, technological and management solutions, and professional skills to conceive, design, implement, and operate mechatronic systems in industrial and civil sectors.

  • Possess personal and professional skills, communication skills, teamwork skills, and foreign language proficiency to work effectively in an internationally integrated environment.

  • Have knowledge of economics and politics; possess basic knowledge in social sciences and law; and master fundamental natural science knowledge to support professional learning and higher-level education.

  • Develop a professional career in mechatronics engineering and related fields, meeting requirements for professional certifications and practicing licenses domestically and internationally.

4. Scholarship opportunities and academic support

  • Opportunities to receive scholarships from the University, Faculty, and sponsoring organizations.

  • Practice in laboratories and participate in student scientific research activities.

  • Participate in volunteer teams, cultural and performance groups, and sports teams of the Faculty and University.

  • Opportunities for site visits and internships at major companies and corporations operating in the mechatronics field.

  • Opportunities to transfer to other specializations within the Faculty or to other faculties within the University.

5. Career opportunities

Career positions after graduation include:

  • Consulting in design, supervision consultancy, construction/installation, and operation management of mechatronic systems and automation systems in factories, industrial parks, export processing zones, residential areas, buildings, and office towers, etc.

  • Technical support, management, consultancy, and business roles at large domestic corporations and foreign-invested (FDI) companies operating in mechatronics, automation, and related fields.

  • Participation in the labor market as a Mechatronics Technical Officer/Engineer in Japan, ASEAN, etc.

  • Teaching and research positions at research institutes, universities, and colleges.

6. Postgraduate study opportunities

  • As a newly developed internationally-oriented program, it provides favorable conditions for students to pursue postgraduate studies abroad in advanced countries.

  • Opportunities to pursue dual degrees or a second degree in other majors/specializations at the University.

  • Various opportunities to further advance qualifications at Master’s and PhD levels in Vietnam and overseas.
