The Youth Union of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is a unit directly affiliated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE). Accompanying the development of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Youth Union has ceased to grow, affirming its position in the youth work and movements of both the Faculty specifically and the University in general.

Upholding its role as a socio-political organization for union members and youth, while serving as an environment for training, dedication, and personal growth, the Faculty Youth Union always focuses on innovating content and operational methods to unite and gather members. It actively promotes the "Good Study – Good Training" emulation movement for the comprehensive development of every union member, youth, and the Youth Union organization itself.

Not only a pioneering force in learning and scientific research, the youth and union members of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are also always at the forefront of emulation movements, volunteer activities, and Youth Union work at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.

Thanks to the close attention and direction of the upper-level Youth Union and the Board of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, combined with a spirit of solidarity, creativity, and high determination, the Youth Union of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will continue to inherit and promote fine traditions. It strives to constantly innovate and build an increasingly strong youth movement, contributing to the training of high-quality human resources to serve the industrialization and modernization of the country.

2. Roles, Functions, and Duties

The Executive Committee of the Faculty Youth Union operates under the direct direction of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of HUCE and the Faculty Board. Its function is to lead and comprehensively direct the Youth Union work and youth movements within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Key duties of the Executive Committee include:

• Coordinating closely between the Faculty Youth Union and the University Youth Union to organize and implement cultural, artistic, and sports activities aimed at improving spiritual life, gathering, attracting, and orienting values for union members and youth in the Faculty.
• Promoting movements in learning, creativity, scientific research, and participation in Student Olympiads; encouraging and motivating members to actively respond to activities launched by the Youth Union.
• Focusing on political, ideological, ethical, and lifestyle education; fostering revolutionary ideals, rousing dreams and ambitions, and the spirit of dedication among the youth.
• Actively implementing the "Student of 5 Merits" movement, considering it an important criterion for training and evaluating students in the Faculty.
• Proactively discovering, fostering, and introducing elite union members for the Party to consider for admission.
• Building a strong grassroots Youth Union organization; paying close attention to the activities of sub-branches (Chi đoàn), clubs, and models of living, playing, and learning; providing timely orientation and support so that Youth Union movements develop more effectively and practically.

3. Structure of the Executive Committee

The Executive Committee of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering for the 2024 – 2027 term consists of 11 comrades, including:

• Secretary: Lecturer, Dr. Vu Huu Cong
• Deputy Secretary: Student Nguyen Huu Bac – Class 68KOC1

4. Activities of the Youth Union

The Faculty Youth Union always orients its activities to strengthen the bond between sub-branches and all members within the Faculty. In particular, the Youth Union emphasizes education and orientation to help members develop steadfast courage and a clean, healthy lifestyle suitable for the university environment.

Additionally, the Youth Union frequently organizes seminars and experience-sharing sessions to help members—especially freshmen—get accustomed to effective study methods and form positive, scientific lifestyles. These activities contribute to building a dynamic, creative, and united learning and training environment throughout the Faculty.

• Sports Activities: Every year, the Faculty Youth Union organizes and participates in many traditional sports tournaments such as football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tug of war, etc. These create a healthy, useful playground for students after stressful study hours while promoting solidarity and physical training. Through these activities, the Youth Union also discovers and selects students with talent and outstanding achievements to participate in University and City-level sports tournaments.
• Academic Support Activities: To improve the quality of learning across the Union, the Faculty Youth Union organizes many review support sessions in preparation for final exams. These sessions focus on foundational modules such as: Technical Physics 1, Engineering Linear Algebra, General Engineering Chemistry, Basic Mechanics, Introduction to Engineering Calculus, Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Drawing, and Technical Physics 2. This activity has contributed to helping students consolidate knowledge, improve academic results, and create a positive academic environment of mutual support within the Faculty.
• Scientific Research Activities: Annually, the Faculty Youth Union actively launches, encourages, and supports students to participate in school-level scientific research activities, as well as student scientific seminars and forums. Through this, the Union contributes to promoting creativity, research thinking, and the ability to apply knowledge into practice, creating a dynamic academic environment that helps students refine research skills and affirm their capabilities.
• Participation in Competitions: The Faculty Youth Union always actively launches and supports students in participating in academic and technical innovation competitions organized by the University and external units. Notable examples include the Vietnam Robocon Competition organized by Vietnam Television (VTV) and automation design and manufacturing competitions sponsored and coordinated by enterprises. Furthermore, the Union encourages students to participate in the University-level Excellent Student competitions and National Olympiads, achieving many high achievements and awards, thereby affirming the professional competence, creative spirit, and passion for research of Mechanical Engineering students.
• Activities with the Faculty Volunteer Team: The Youth Union, in coordination with the Student Volunteer Team of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, has organized and launched many movements rich in humanistic meaning, such as: distributing food at night to the homeless, and programs like "Tết ấm”," "Mùa đông cho em”," "Mùa hè xanh”," humanitarian blood donation, and many other charity activities. These programs not only spread the spirit of mutual affection and community responsibility but also contribute to fostering compassion, a sense of sharing, and a spirit of dedication in every union member and youth of the Faculty.

5. Achievements in Recent Years

In recent times, the Youth Union of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has made ceaseless efforts to actively participate in activities and movements launched by the HUCE Youth Union and upper-level Youth Union. With a spirit of solidarity, creativity, and responsibility, the Faculty Youth Union has achieved many notable accomplishments, such as:

• Certificate of Merit from the Hanoi Youth Union for the academic year 2023-2024.
• Certificates of Merit from the Executive Committee of the HUCE Youth Union for many consecutive years for excellent achievements in Youth Union work and youth movements.
