MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS JOIN THE 2021-2022 NATIONAL OLYMPIAD IN MECHANICS

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THE NATIONAL OLYMPIAD IN MECHANICS 2021-2022 ⚙️

1. Send-off Ceremony for the Teams

On the afternoon of June 9, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) organized the "Send-off Ceremony for the 2021-2022 Olympiad Teams" to cheer, encourage, and boost the morale of students participating in the upcoming National Olympiad.

👥 Attendees: The ceremony was attended by:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tung – Vice Rector of the University.

  • MSc. Pham Huu Tung – Deputy Head of the Academic Affairs Office.

  • MSc. Bui Quang Trung – Head of the Political & Student Affairs Office.

  • Representatives of the Youth Union, Student Association, along with lecturers and students from the Olympiad teams.

🎙️ Leadership's Remarks: Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tung – Vice Rector offered words of encouragement, sharing, and acknowledging the relentless efforts of both teachers and students in building and training the Olympiad teams.

He emphasized that the Olympiad is a prime opportunity for students to network, learn, gain practical experience, and challenge themselves. notably, after graduation, students who achieve Olympiad awards will receive favorable evaluations and priority when applying for jobs.

Recalling the achievements in recent Olympiads, he expressed confidence that this year's participants would continue the University's legacy of success. He wished the teams to remain calm, confident, and strive their hardest, hoping that the entire team would achieve outstanding results in the upcoming competition, contributing to affirming their self-worth and the University's reputation.

Over the years, the Olympiad movement has become an annual tradition at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE). It serves not only as a platform for students to enhance their knowledge but also as motivation for self-improvement during their studies. The results of the Olympiad competitions partly reflect the quality of the University's teaching and learning.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021–2022 academic year was primarily conducted online; therefore, the university-level Excellent Student Competition could not be held. The HUCE Youth Union, acting as the standing unit, proactively advised the Steering Committee and coordinated with academic departments to select and form 07 teams. A total of 72 students registered to compete in 07 Olympiad subjects, including: Soil Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Hydraulics, Machine Elements, and Theory of Machines for the 2021-2022 academic year. 2. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Teams Compete at the University of Transport and Communications

Among the 07 Mechanics subjects organized this year, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering fielded 02 teams under the guidance of lecturers from the Department of Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering, competing in Machine Elements and Theory of Machines.

Given the complex development of COVID-19 nationwide, it initially seemed this year's contest would be canceled like in 2021. Therefore, organizing this year's competition marked a significant effort by the Vietnam Association of Mechanics and host institutions, even though the Informatics Application subjects had to be omitted.

Despite the short preparation time, both teachers and students of the two teams actively reviewed with the goal of achieving the best results—aiming not only for awards but also to demonstrate their own capabilities.

On June 12, 2022, the National Olympiad in Mechanics was held simultaneously in the North, Central, and South regions. The HUCE Mechanics team competed at the University of Transport and Communications (Northern Region).

After a brief but meaningful opening ceremony, the teams entered the inter-university competition, with our Faculty's students showing great determination. Outside, while waiting for the candidates to complete their papers, the leading lecturers were as anxious as parents taking their children to an exam.

The 180-minute duration ended. Although there were lingering regrets and worries, the students truly gave it their all.

❤️ Thank you all. We wish you even greater success, deeper passion, and an ever-growing love for the University and the Faculty.
